Caddies, Carts & Rules
The Pukka Junior Tour is pleased to allow caddies for players of all ages. All players are encouraged to have caddies to help them play their best. To ensure that this process runs efficiently we have established a few rules and guidelines.
- Players have 30 seconds to perform their shot, once it is their turn to go.
- Caddies are responsible for repairing divots, raking sand traps, replacing flagsticks and maintaining pace of play for their player.
- Caddies can: Help with club selection, alignment (must be done quickly), help with reading putts, suggest types of shots, discuss tempo or rythym (once again, at a quick pace).
- Caddies cannot: OVERCOACH, discuss swing mechanics all day (hurts the player from learning on their own, but more importantly this disrupts other players in the field by slowing down play), no dscussing ball positions all day, clubface angles, grip positions, etc. If overcoaching is brought to our attention and witnessed by the Pukka Junior Tour Staff, first offense is a warning, second offense is a two shot penalty (assessed immediately) and final offense is disqualification. Please make this easy on the kids.....caddy for them only, LET THEM PLAY THE GAME!
- Caddies are not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages or smoke during a stipulated round.
- The two ball rule is in effect. If you are unsure of any situation on the golf course and cannot locate a rules official either visually or via cell phone, play two golf balls using two different methods and we will determine the score as quickly as possible.
- You may select to play out of order to speed up play, but the player whos turn that it is has to agree and be made aware of this prior to jumping ahead.
- Caddies may work for 2 players (siblings only), however if the children get split up the second day based on scoring, the parents must make arrangements to work for only one player or provide a caddy for their other child (if they need or want a caddy)
- Cart Policy:
- Players are allowed to sit in the cart when it is not moving during the play of a hole (if you are waiting on the group ahead). However, their is a mandatory 2 stroke penalty if a player rides in the cart at any point between teeing off and holing out, unless directed by the Pukka Junior Tour Staff to do so.
- 1 Caddy on cart, their players bag is the only one allowed on it. If their are 2 caddies on one cart, their players bags are the only ones allowed on the cart. Breach of this rule is a 2 stroke penalty each time this is disrupted. If a player does not have a caddy, they must walk...no exceptions. They can hitch a ride between holes on other carts to speed up play.
- Spectators may ride in a rented caddy cart, if enough carts are available. However, we strongly encourage the spectator to rent a separate cart if possible. Spectators are strictly forbidden from providing any advice to the caddy or player during a round. Breach of this rule is automatic disqualification.
If a caddie becomes disruptive they will be warned of the problem. If the problem continues the caddie will be dismissed as a caddie from that event and will not be allowed to caddie in any other events for the remainder of the year. The conduct of caddies will be monitored by all Pukka Junior Tour staff and by other caddies and players in the group. The PJT Director will have the final decision on any incident that occurs. All caddies will be asked to sign a Caddie Policy form outlining the above. It is very important for caddies to strictly adhere to this policy to make participating more enjoyable for everyone.
